STATUES' BEARDS GROW IN TEMPLES

The beards of nine josses worshipped in a temple in Miaoli, Taiwan Province, have mysteriously grown longer.
The beard on one statue has lengthened by 40cm. Locals said the josses were placed in the temple at the end of last year.
Experts have analyzed the beard, made of horse hair, to determine whether it could have grown because of nutrients in the wooden statues and the humid climate.
