Foreign Experts Certificate
is issued by SAFEA and is specific to the employer. The FEC authorizes the holder to work in a salaried position for a nominated employer. If a FE or FT changes employers, a new FEC must be issued. The holder will be asked to produce the FEC when conducting transactions related to employment, eg. Banking. Sometimes referred to as "Red Book".

Temporary Residency Permit [TRP]
given a Foreign Expert or Foreign Teacher for the duration of their contract period. The TRP negates the need to renew or extend a Z visa. Also erroneously called "Green Card", it is in fact a small green booklet. The TRP is extendable and transferable to a different employer if accompanied by a letter of release from the previous employer. The TRP may be used for most official transactions in lieu of the person's passport, e.g. Booking travel, banking, registering at hotels etc. The TRP is issued by the Public Security Bureau. The "Green Card" is issued to Permanent Residents.
